Peyton Yourch
The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York
Peyton Yourch (They/She) is the Alliance Manager at The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York. In this role, Peyton works with frontline community food providers (such as food pantries, community meal programs, and mutual aid initiatives) coordinating mutual support and advocacy resources. Peyton’s favorite part of their work is visiting members of The Alliance and learning more about their work and communities.
Peyton's professional journey began in the culinary world, where they worked in various kitchens, from casual pubs to fine dining, and eventually as a private chef. Their love for food and community inspired a shift towards social service and advocacy, culminating in their current position.
Peyton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Peace and Justice Studies and Political Science from Pace University Dyson School of Arts and Sciences. Their academic work included a thesis utilizing community leader testimonials to understand the impact of COVID-era support on recidivism. This work deepened their interest in empowering community leaders.
Peyton currently resides in Schenectady, where they volunteer at the Downtown Schenectady Community Breakfast Program and sits on the Advocacy and Empowerment Working Group on the Schenectady County Food Council.
In their personal time, Peyton enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with their partner Sid and their two puppies, Hubble and Amicia.
