Engagement – Dutchess Outreach

Ambitious leader; with extensive and progressive experience in community relations, fund development, program execution and team development; committed to delivering quality community service through building relations, motivating teams, and developing key coalitions with community leaders and local organizations; possesses excellent communication, organization, and strategic planning ability.

Nyhisha is a native of East New York, Brooklyn, who resides in the Mid-Hudson Valley. She attended North Carolina State University – Raleigh, NC, where she earned her BA in Political Science.
Immediately after graduating college, she attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice (NYC) and earned her Master of Public Administration degree. In 2023, Nyhisha

received a full scholarship to Adelphi University and earned her certification in Non-Profit Leadership Management. In 2022, she participated in Cause Effective Next Generation Program: Fundraising Activation for Rising Leaders of Color (Cohort 4); completing the certification.

Nyhisha is the proud wife of 26 years to her love and soul mate, Robert Gibbs; mother of four (4) outstanding, handsome, brilliant and amazing sons: Devin, Brandon, Cody and Chad; devoted daughter, sincere sister and fond friend of many. Nyhisha is an active member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Wappingers Falls, NY where Dr. Edward L. Hunt is the Pastor. At church, she is a Liturgical dancer, member of the Greeter Ministry and member of the Angel Tree Ministry.

As the Director of Community Engagement and Notary Public at Dutchess Outreach, Nyhisha serves as the “Chief Operating Officer” as she vets, coordinates, and schedules over 2,000 volunteers annually to serve and support Dutchess Outreach’s programs. At Dutchess Outreach, volunteers are the heartbeat of the non-profit and are heavily relied upon. In addition to scheduling volunteers, Nyhisha serves as the Program Manager for programs that assist over 700 people monthly. Additionally, Nyhisha serves on several Dutchess Outreach Committees including Development, Fundraising and Volunteer Committees. Understanding the vital role of volunteers as it relates to donor relations, she has initiated and forged several long-standing relationships with volunteers who have become, and continue to be, donors to Dutchess Outreach.

Nyhisha is a 25-year member of Alpha Kapp Alpha Sorority, Inc.® She has served as the local, Poughkeepsie Chapter, president and held various leadership roles in the local Poughkeepsie Chapter and in the AKA North Atlantic Region. She has also received numerous AKA awards and accolades. Currently, she is a member of an AKA Interest Group with aspirations to charter an AKA Chapter in Orange County, NY.

As a co- founder of On PAR (Partner Against Racism), an anti-racism grassroots
organization, member of Lincoln University’s Board Council of Parents and Associate member & Parent Coordinator of the Alumni Association of Lincoln University – NYC Metro Chapter, she believes “To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Required.” Her passion for service spans over three (3) decades and encompasses several local and non-local communities.
