Michelle V. Scott

211 Western New York

Michelle V. Scott is a passionate advocate for social justice and health equity, leveraging her educational background and professional experience to address critical issues within underserved communities. She holds a Master's in Social Work and a Master's of Science in Creativity and Change Leadership, with plans to pursue a Master's of Public Health starting in the Fall of 2024.

Currently serving as the Contact Center Services Operations Manager at 211 WNY, Michelle brings a wealth of experience in managing operations that play a crucial role in connecting individuals with vital resources and support. Her commitment to community well-being is deeply rooted in her own life journey.

Michelle defied the odds when, during the height of the crack epidemic, she became a teen mother. Residing in a challenging neighborhood where many of her friends faced similar circumstances, Michelle navigated the complex landscape of teen parenthood. Growing up amidst the challenges of food insecurity, she witnessed the transformation of her neighborhood from a place with adequate access to food into one facing the harsh realities of food apartheid.

As someone who has directly experienced the health disparities associated with food injustice, Michelle is driven by a personal mission to advocate for change. Her lived experiences offer a unique perspective on the potential health outcomes that can arise when communities are deprived of food justice. Michelle is dedicated to fostering awareness, education, and action to dismantle barriers and create equitable food systems that prioritize the health and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their background or zip code.
