Mark Emanatian

Capital District Area Labor Federation

Mark Emanatian comes from a working class town and a working class family. He has been a political activist for working class causes for decades. He has been active in union organizing and strike support, anti­war and peace groups, anti­racist and anti­apartheid movements, defence of women’s rights and equality, the fight for jobs and economic rights, climate change and environmental causes and the struggle for civil liberties and democracy. Emanatian has lived and worked in Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Louisville, Boston and the Capital District. He has worked as an organizer, teacher, garment worker and musician. He has been active in hunger and poverty also for decades and is a board member of the Alliance for a Hunger Free new York.

He has worked for the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union and the Capital District Area Labor Federation. He is a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1 and the American Musicians Association Local 14.
