Anita Dreichler

Rockland Community Against Hunger

Since 2011, Ms. Dreichler is a founding member and volunteer Coordinator of Rockland Community Against Hunger (RCAH), a coalition of food pantries and meal programs dedicated to helping all agencies in Rockland that provide food and services to people who are food insecure. Working with TOUCH, BRIDGES, Catholic Charities, Meals on Wheels, Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center, and the Rockland Dept. of Health, RCAH has collaboratively designed and implemented many programs to help provide healthy food to those in need in Rockland. The RCAH Food Recovery Program began in 2018. Led by TOUCH in collaboration with our RCAH partners, this program now recovers and distributes over 1.3 million pounds of food per year.

In 2010, Ms. Dreichler started a local chapter of Plant-A-Row with other master gardeners in Rockland County. This program encourages gardeners to plant extra vegetables to donate to local food pantries. Through this program her eyes were opened to the number of food pantries in the County and the growing need to help people who are food insecure. She then started to devote her time to giving back. Together with the Executive Director of TOUCH, they created a program called Get Fresh that distributes thousands of pounds of food delivered by the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY each month to more than 20 food pantries. With this effort, they formed Rockland Community Against Hunger.

Ms. Dreichler has over 30 years of experience implementing complex business applications for the financial services industry. With a degree in Computer Science, Ms. Dreichler began as a programmer and project manager, becoming a Managing Director and President of a wholly owned software subsidiary of a global financial institution. She later became a partner in a global technology consulting firm.
